Why Gray Line?

Started in 1960s by the Rentiers family, Gray Line of Charleston provides informative, entertaining bus tours of Charleston’s historic district daily to visitors from around the world.

Still a locally owned, family-run business, Gray Line of Charleston partners with Spirit Line Cruises and Fort Sumter Tours, enabling us to offer visitors discounts on combination tours that provide a comprehensive perspective into the city’s rich past.

Our guides are licensed, dedicated professionals who complete rigorous, comprehensive training. Most are Charleston natives who have grown up surrounded by the area’s rich and vibrant history, and many guides have been with the company for more than 10 years. Often a guide will have a specific area of expertise and is happy to tailor a tour to passenger interests. You’ll find they can answer almost any question you have about the city’s past, but go ahead and try to stump them!

All of our tour vehicles are air-conditioned and heated, 20 to 25-passenger mini-buses. They are specially designed to access downtown Charleston’s narrow streets for close-up views of some of the city’s most significant details that larger buses often miss.

Our fleet is carefully maintained and regularly updated for passenger comfort and safety. We are also the only tour bus company in Charleston that offers a handicap-accessible vehicle. Simply call 24 hours in advance to ensure availability.

One of the oldest and largest sightseeing companies in the world, Gray Line is a international association of operators with more than 100 years of experience in the tourism industry. A trusted name in travel, Gray Line offers tours in more than 150 destinations on six continents.
